Several inches of rain causes flooding in parts of city
Rain that began during the afternoon Nov. 11 Wednesday and started to taper off about 24 hours later left several inches of rain in the city and surrounding area and left many yards and numerous sections of roads covered in water.
School staff to receive bonus
Suffolk school division employees will get an extra boost in an upcoming paycheck.
The School Board voted unanimously during its virtual meeting Nov. 12 to provide one-time bonuses of $500 for full-time staff, while permanent part-time and long-term substitutes will receive $250 in their Dec. 18 paychecks.
Mixed feelings on renaming Pioneer Elementary
Opinions were split on whether to rename Pioneer Elementary School during a recent Suffolk School Board public hearing at City Hall.
